LQ0407-02: Resolution to establish an annual UC-organized LGBTQ conference
WHEREAS, United Council of University of Wisconsin Students is dedicated to preserving and furthering the rights, interests, and education of students; and
WHEREAS, United Council of UW Students organizes annual conferences through the Women’s Issues Committee and the Multicultural Issues Committee; and
WHEREAS, these conferences are an excellent means for the exchange of ideas, for the fostering of diversity, for leadership and organizational development, and for networking and building connections between students of various campuses; and
WHEREAS, while these conferences often address issues of interest to the LGBTQ community, there are still many practical, political, and academic issues which are more specific to the LGBTQ community, and which would therefore benefit by the creation of a more LGBTQ issues-specific conference; therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that United Council of UW Students establish and fund a conference, to be hosted in the fall of 2007 by a United Council member campus, dedicated to the discussion of issues related to the LGBTQ community; and therefore
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this conference be organized by the LGBTQ Issues director, in conjunction with the LGBTQ Issues Committee chair(s).
